John, is that a compressed load? 38gr LG takes up just about all my free space with the Magtech 230 FMJ.

Re: 284 DAMAGED BRASS?

The 284 has a nominal rim size of .476" The SAAMI drawings for both the 450 Bushmaster and the 284 Winchester cartridges give identical dimensions for rim diameter, extraction groove diameter, and base diameter: Rim: 0.473, + 0, -0.010 inches Groove: 0.409, +0, -0.010 inches Base: 0.500, + 0, ...

Re: Accuracy Load for XTP vs FTX

Though I've never loaded the 250 gr regular XTP, I have done the 240 gr XTP Mag. My best load was 38 gr of Lil Gun with a Remington 7 1/2 primer and a tight taper crimp (.475). I seated them to 2.03 inches OAL just burying the cannelure for the taper crimp to bite into. Off a bench rest rig it yield...

Re: Has anyone received their upper from the sale?

A friend of mine got two since they were backordered. He only wanted one so he unloaded the other on me for the sale price. I have a couple AR's but I just stepped into this one. I need to get out to the range and I'll let you know what I think about the Thumper. It's hard to un-learn a flinch. Get...

Re: 284 DAMAGED BRASS?

Closing the action on a .284 case is sometimes difficult if not dangerous for your extractor due to the differences between the rim and extractor groove diameters in the 450b being smaller than the .284 by design. You may want to use actual Hornady cases so as not to stress your extractor, or do as ...

Re: Remington Ammo?????

I just finished watching the "Modern Rifle Adnentures" episode on Florida Gators with the AR platform, and the older dude was using an R15 in 450B. He said he was using the ammo made by Remington that utilizes the same bullet that is used for saboted shotgun slugs. Have any of you guys se...

Re: How's my crimp?

Thanks for the info. I was told by a friend of mine who has alot more experiance in reloding than me that 35.6 gr is a lil low, after this I think i'm going to go to lil gun, seems you use less powder for more velocity... Thanks again Keep in mind that steps in the direction of faster powders means...

Re: How's my crimp?

While the 240 XTP Mag bullet is good, I get better accuracy at 100 yards from the 225 FTX. Normally they are the same price at Midway, but the 225 FTX is on sale for about 10% less right now. 100) 225 FTX $26.49 regularly, $22.10 (on sale right now) 100) 240 XTP Mag $26.49 The 225 FTX ahead of 38gr ...
